Following the highly successful running of the 2009 Phoenix Park Motor Races, Motorsport Ireland in conjunction with the Phoenix Park Organising Committee, are delighted to announce that the date for this event in 2010 will be 14th. & 15th. August.
The circuit to be used for the 2010 races will be the Oldtown Circuit, with a change to Mountjoy Corner. The Office of Public Works, to whom we are very grateful for allowing us the use of the Park, are making some changes. These changes have been made in consultation with Motorsport Ireland and the Organising Committee.
The arrangements for the Paddock in Farmleigh proved very successful and after some discussion with the management in Farmleigh, extra facilities have been offered.
We now invite all those who are interested in racing in the Park to contact us.
2009 celebrated the 80th. Anniversary of the Irish Grand Prix, and Formula Libre raced for the Dublin Grand Prix. Congratulations to Dan Daly on his great win on Sunday (although he did provide some ‘heart stopping’ moments during Saturday’s race!)
This year was actually the 106th. Anniversary of racing in the Park as the first event took place in 1903 – a wonderful and unique history of motorsport and the oldest motor racing venue still in existence today worldwide.
Those of you who regularly come to the Phoenix Park Motor Races races will have noticed quite a few changes this year. We ‘revamped’ the circuit build, and moved the paddock into the wonderful surroundings of Farmleigh, by kind permission of the Office of Public Works. We hope you made the effort to come up to the paddock and meet the competitors, and if you haven’t been in Farmleigh before, you will have discovered one of Ireland’s great treasures!
This year’s event was quite challenging to stage due to the economic climate, and it was only possible due to the hard working committee, goodwill from sponsors and the support we received from both Motorsport Ireland and the Office of Public Works. On behalf of the organisers, we wish to thank them, the Gardai, the Health Service Executive, the Civil Defence, the competitors, marshals and officials – without their co-operation this free event for spectators would not have run.
